Dear Friend:
The River Forest Park District welcomes your interest in the
memorial tree program.
Living tree memorials are planted for a variety of reasons. They include traditional memorials, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and recognition of special services and organizations. Trees can also be donated without a memorial if so desired.
The memorial consists of a tree and a plaque placed in the donor’s choice of one of the eight River Forest parks, and is of benefit to the community for many years to come. The need for establishment and replacement of park trees - the mighty oaks, the colorful maples, the delicate locusts, is very important to the Park District and the Village of River Forest. Your donation of a tree is a valuable community service, and will become an asset to your neighborhood.
The Park District will help you select a tree and a location
for it in the park of your choice to help ensure that the
tree will be situated in the park properly, and also so that
a proper blend of trees will exist in each park.
Plantings of park trees are scheduled for the spring and fall of each year. The tree and plaque must be ordered at least two months ahead of time, and we will order the items only after a definite commitment has been made.
A list of trees suggested by the Park District and park locations is enclosed herewith. Again, thank you for your interest in the memorial tree program.
