Founded in 1995, the Rapids Soccer Club (Rapids) provides highly competitive club soccer for U8-U17 boys and girls in the near west suburbs.  Under the training and supervision of professional coaches, our teams strive to compete at a highly competitive level in the Chicagoland area while emphasizing player development, team work, discipline, good sportsmanship and a life long love of soccer. The club is operated as a parent volunteer organization. It is sustained by player fees, fund raising activities, and parent volunteerism.

• Achieves and maintains a high level of physical fitness
• Develops cross training athletic skills (particularly footwork) that are easily transferable to other sports, e.g., basketball, tennis, football, etc.
• Prepares interested kids to play high school soccer if they continue to play club soccer through U14
• Provides very conveniently located practice fields and home game fields
• Facilitates kids playing with their friends and meeting new friends that attend surrounding community schools
• Creates an opportunity for parents to meet other parents and expand their social network and familial assimilation into the Oak Park/River Forest and surrounding communities
  
  

Rapids and River Forest Park District Joint Programming

In collaboration with the River Forest Park District, the Rapids Training Academy conducts training programs for children ages 3 – 7.  Fall and spring outdoor training programs are held in local River Forest parks. Winter indoor training programs are held at either River Forest schools or at the SportsZone.

Summer camps are also provided for children ages 3 -15 and are conducted at River Forest parks.

The goal of the Rapids Academy is to provide professional coaching instruction to young soccer players that creates a foundation for skill development, love of the game, and generates future interest in club soccer. The cost of the academy varies by program. Academy enrollment forms are available on our website (www.rfrapids.org) or through the River Forest Park District.
