Why are the splash pad hours from noon to 6:00 PM on weekdays, and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends?
The water service to Priory Park remained unchanged as part of the Priory Center/Splash Pad project. Because of the service size, the irrigation system and splash pad cannot run simultaneously. The irrigation system runs overnight. On weekdays, the Park District operates a summer camp in the Priory Center from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. As part of the camp program, the Priory irrigation system runs for programming before noon.

Due to Illinois Department of Public Health requirements, the splash pad water cannot be recirculated into a closed system, therefore, all water flows through.  When the Board approved the project, they also approved a $20,000 annual budget for the water/sewer charge. Based on the unit cost the Village charges for water/sewer and the anticipated flow rate (gallons per minute), it was estimated that the splash pad could be open daily for 6 hours. The afternoon times were selected because this is the warmest time of the day, and it allows families who work until 5:00 PM the opportunity to use the splash pad. The Park District will monitor the water flow of the splash pad and will add time if possible.
